Mudzinga ("we", "us", "our") operates mudzinga.net, a free classifieds platform for Zimbabwe. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

We keep things simple: we collect only what's necessary to operate the Platform, we don't sell your data, and we don't run advertising tracking.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide when posting a listing:

• Your name (as entered on the listing form)
• Phone number and/or WhatsApp number
• Email address (if provided)
• Location (city/area)
• Listing content: title, description, photos, price

Information collected automatically:

• IP address (for security and abuse prevention)
• Browser type and device type
• Pages visited and time spent (aggregated, not individually tracked)
• Referring URL

Information stored in your browser:

• Saved listings (favourites) — stored in localStorage, never sent to our servers
• Recently viewed listings — stored in localStorage, never sent to our servers

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected to:

• Display your listing publicly on the Platform
• Allow interested buyers to contact you directly
• Moderate listings for compliance with our Terms of Use
• Prevent fraud, spam, and abuse
• Improve Platform performance and fix bugs
• Generate anonymised, aggregate usage statistics

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.

4. Your Contact Information on Listings

When you post a listing, your name and contact details (phone, WhatsApp, email) become publicly visible on that listing. Any person visiting the Platform can see and use this contact information to reach you about the listing.

Please only post contact details you are comfortable sharing publicly. We recommend using a dedicated phone number for selling if you have privacy concerns.

5. Cookies

We use only essential, functional cookies necessary to operate the Platform (such as session management). We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies.

Your favourites and recently viewed listings are stored in your browser's localStorage — this data stays on your device and is not accessible to us.

6. Third Parties

We share minimal data with third parties, only as required:

• Hosting provider — Our servers process your requests; our hosting provider may have access to server logs.
• WhatsApp / Telephone — When you tap a contact button, you leave our Platform. Those services have their own privacy policies.

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising networks.

7. Data Retention

Listing data is retained for as long as the listing is active (up to 60 days), plus a short period afterward for backup purposes. Contact information on listings is deleted when the listing is removed.

Server logs are retained for up to 30 days for security purposes and then deleted.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Request removal of your listing and associated personal data
• Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Clear your saved listings and browsing history (by clearing browser localStorage)

9. Children's Privacy

Mudzinga is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has posted on our Platform, please contact us and we will remove the listing.

10. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including HTTPS encryption, secure server configurations, and regular security reviews. However, no system is completely secure. We encourage you not to post sensitive personal information beyond what is needed to sell your item.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
